Seventy-two students graduated from Thornwell’s 4K program in a recent ceremony. The event was held in the Gillam Center on the Thornwell campus.

“We’re very proud of our students this year,” said Brooke Robinette, the director of the Early Child Education program at Thornwell. “They’re hard-working students and ready for kindergarten.”

All 72 of the students are from Laurens County. This year marked the fifth year of the 4K program.

In addition to receiving their certificates, the students sang songs during the event. Jenn Stanley, Thornwell’s director of faith formation and Christian nurture, led the students in chapel songs, while Ray Du, Chinese language instructor at Presbyterian College, led the children in songs they sang in Chinese. The students also recited a poem during the ceremony.

The 4K program is a SC First Steps Child Development Educational Program. The goal of the program is to get children ready for school success.
