Fourteen sales representatives from Merck, a global healthcare company, helped get the Thornwell children into the holiday spirit by volunteering on campus on Monday, November 7.

The Merck employees helped ninth through twelfth graders create toy soldiers out of clay pots, while the sixth through eighth graders painted birdhouses. Kindergartners through fifth grade students constructed pine cone feeders and thankful turkeys. All students enjoyed games of cornhole, egg toss, sack races and basketball.

Merck’s volunteer effort was part of a company-wide goal to reach 125,000 volunteer hours this year. Each of the Merck employees tallied four hours while at Thornwell, for a total of 56 total hours.

Thornwell provides opportunities for groups and individuals to have fun while supporting a great cause. Check out the Volunteer to Help page to see how you can get involved.
